Job Title : Associate Consultant/Consultant – Patent Intelligence

Location : Gurgaon, India


Role Purpose:

  • As an expert in patent Intelligence team, you will be responsible for conducting and delivering comprehensive patent searches on commercially significant marketed pharmaceutical products, maintaining documentation as well as updating other related patent, regulatory and pharmaceutical information using a variety of internal and external sources and systems
  • Working with a tightly-knit team, you will work on a leading offering in Patents’ space for pharmaceutical companies, whilst sharing responsibility for meeting and improving set standards

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Conducts comprehensive patent searches online using a high level of problem solving skills
  • Conducts in depth analysis of patent documents utilizing a knowledge of chemistry/biotechnology and chemical nomenclature coupled with detailed knowledge of international pharmaceutical patent law
  • Makes informed judgment on patent coverage and relevance of patent families. Writes/edits patent information and ensures adherence to set style guidelines
  • Monitors and analyzes other sources of intellectual property and regulatory monopoly, including patent extensions, marketing and data exclusivity and patent legal status (patent expiry, reassignments, withdrawals, lapses and rejections)
  • Evaluates patent litigation news and intellectual property changes worldwide, interpreting legal jargon and complex patent situations, ensuring the integrity of the IMS publications database is maintained
  • Ongoing monitoring of patent publications in accordance with standards, company priorities and the production cycle
  • Contributes to the development of information systems for the offering
  • Partners with product management, providing expert support on client service elements
  • Supports GMI billable projects and other initiatives with support from senior management as appropriate


Minimum Education, Experience, & Specialized Knowledge Required:

  • Master’s degree in biochemistry/biotechnology/organic or pharmaceutical chemistry
  • 4-5 years of experience in Patent analytics/with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in working on Pharmaceutical patents
  • Basic patent searching skills and understanding of pharmaceutical patents
  • MS Office – Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Excellent communication (verbal/written) and interpersonal skills
  • Experience & knowledge of various patent databases desirable
